The Clinical Symposium represents DF’s tradition of excellence in continuing medical education. It offers dermatologists, residents, and non-physician clinicians a focused CME program and the opportunity to earn credits while exploring the research, technologies and clinical questions that are changing how care is delivered.

Its practical focus is a big part of the Clinical Symposium’s appeal. Attendees leave with insights they can put to work immediately.

3 days, 12 experts, 23 lectures

Program Co-chairs Drs. Yvonne Chiu, Janet Fairley and Jack Resneck Jr. have designed the comprehensive 2027 CME program around 7 topics: Drug Safety and Innovation, Personalized Therapies in Practice, Dermatology Beyond the Skin, The Bigger Picture, Modern Approaches to Care, Infectious Dermatology, and Follicular Inflammation and Disease.

Over three days, an outstanding faculty of 12 dermatology experts will deliver authoritative talks in a mini-symposium format: Drs. Milan J. Anadkat, Murad Alam, Lisa Arkin*, Jeffrey Callen, Sarah Coates, Laurin Council, Nada Elbuluk, Dirk Elston, Luis Garza*, Suneil Koliwad, Peter Lio, and Misha Rosenbach*. (* Former or current DF Research Award recipient)

Clinical Symposium faculty also will lead daily one-hour concurrent breakfast sessions.

Day 1, January 28, 2027, Drs. Sarah Coates, Milan Anadkat and Luis Garza will address these topics with attendees: “Effects of climate change on skin disease”, “Oncodermatology: The Evolution From Trivial Adverse Effects to a Cornerstone of Cancer Therapy”, and “How I treat my HS patients’ bacteria can stimulate regeneration in skin”.

Day 2, January 29, 2027, Drs. Lisa Arkin, Laurin Council, Peter Lio, and Dirk Elston will explore “Modern Approaches to Improving Procedural Pain and Anxiety in Pediatric Dermatology”, “Rare Nonmelanoma Skin Cancers”, “A Practical Framework for Refractory Eczema”, and “The Best New Articles in JAAD”.

Day 3, January 30, 2027 will see Drs. Suneil Koliwad, Jeffrey Callen, Nada Elbuluk, and Misha Rosenbach discuss “The Future of GLP-1 Therapies”, “Lessons Learned by a Medical Dermatologist from the Bluegrass State”, “Updates on Pathogenesis and Treatment Options for Vitiligo”, and “Neutrophilic Diseases”.

Between, during and after sessions

Part of what sets the Clinical Symposium apart is what happens around the formal program — the conversations between sessions, the questions that continue after a lecture and the chance to spend time with colleagues and faculty in a more personal setting. Those exchanges are part of what keeps the meeting relevant and connected to the realities of dermatologic practice.
