DF Commitment to Donors (“Donor Privacy Policy”)

We will not sell, share, or trade the names or personal information of our donors, sponsors, or contributors (collectively, “donors”) with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations which are not parent companies, subsidiaries, or other companies or entities under common control with us, except with respect to (i) certain administration but only when such other entity has signed a nondisclosure agreement and (ii) published donor lists and acknowledgements unless the donor has requested that their contribution remain anonymous. This privacy policy applies to all information received by DF, both online and offline, on any platform, website, mobile applications, and social media, as well as any electronic, written, or verbal communications and information that DF collects by telephone, email, text message, letter, or other methods of communication. Some of the information collected constitutes “personal information,” which means it includes any information or set of information that identifies or could be used by or on behalf of DF to identify a natural person. Such information does not include information that is encoded, aggregated, anonymized, or publicly available information that has not been combined with non-public personal information. Certain “other information” that we may collect does not personally identify you. When you visit our website or participate in certain other DF activities (including, without limitation, making a contribution, attending clinical symposia, applying for a research award, submitting a contact form, or volunteering (collectively, “participant”), we collect (i) information provided voluntarily and (ii) information collected automatically including, but not limited to, as described in detail below. Please note that you may decline to share your personal information with us, in which case access to some or all of our activities may not be available to you. Please note, the Foundation holds the highest standards of ethics with accountability and transparency.

Information Provided Voluntarily

  • Contact Information: We will collect personal information that you provide to us, including, but not limited to, your name, employer’s name, job title, mailing or billing address(es), e-mail address(es), telephone number(s), fax number, and photograph(s) that you voluntarily give to us. Such information is necessary to facilitate your access to, use of, sponsorship of, application to, or participation in our activities and programming. You are under no obligation to provide us with personal information of any kind, however, your refusal to do so may prevent you from using certain features of the Website or fully participating in certain other DF activities or programs.
  • Demographic Information: We will collect demographic information that you provide to us, including, but not limited to, your ethnicity, age, gender, education, hometown, etc. You will be asked to consent to the collection of such information in accordance with this privacy policy at the time of collection, and you may withdraw that consent at any time. Such information is collected to analyze demographics of DF participants and improve their experience.
  • Payment Information: If you choose to make a payment to DF, we and/or our third-party vendors and payment processors will collect your payment information, including, but not limited to, your credit or debit card number, card verification value (CVV) number, and expiration date. We store very limited financial information collected as per internal policies. Otherwise, all financial information is stored by our payment processor and you are encouraged to review their privacy policy and contact them directly for responses to your questions.
  • Participation Information: In order to enroll in, volunteer, apply, or register for a DF program, to attend or participate in a DF program, event, meeting, webinar, or conference, or access DF information or news, you may be required to fill out a registration form (either online or in writing) and provide personal information, which we will use to process your registration. In certain circumstances, a program, event, meeting, webinar, or conference accessed through the Website (or online) may be jointly sponsored or co-sponsored with another organization(s), and enrollment or registration may or may not be handled by DF. In the event enrollment or registration is not handled by DF this privacy policy will not apply – instead, such third party’s privacy policy will apply and be controlling. Please note that DF is not responsible for the privacy policies of such other organizations or their collection, use, sharing, or other processing of your personal or other information, and DF hereby disclaims any liability or responsibility in connection therewith.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Automated Information: Your web browser or mobile device automatically provides information when you visit the Site, including, but not limited to, your Internet Protocol (IP) address or unique device identifier.
  • Cookies: Cookies, as well as JavaScript tags, web beacons, pixel gifs, Flash cookies, and other locally stored objects, are pieces of stored information on a user’s computer or device that are tied to information about the user and used to provide smoother navigation throughout the Site, such as to store a saved password; to identify user trends, such as page views; and for other internal purposes, such as to assess the effectiveness of the Site. We may share personal information we have collected about you in certain situations with a third party in order to complete a specific transaction on behalf of DF or for other legitimate purposes as DF deems to be in the best interests of DF or the specialty.   • Your contact information, as provided to DF, may be shared with other DF meeting attendees or volunteers to facilitate communication and programming.
  • Your name, as provided to DF, may appear on materials distributed at DF symposia, programs, events, meetings, and conferences, including to third parties.
  • Your name and contact information, as provided to DF, may appear on registration or attendee lists distributed at DF programs, events, meetings, webinars, and conferences to other attendees and third parties including, but not limited to, exhibitors or sponsors. We are not responsible for use or misuse of your personal information by exhibitors, sponsors, or the like.
  • In an ongoing effort to better understand visitors to our site and programs, we may analyze non-personal information in aggregate form in order to operate, maintain, manage, and improve our programs. This aggregate information does not identify individuals personally. We may share this aggregate data with our affiliates, agents, and business partners. We may also disclose aggregated user statistics in order to describe our programs to current and prospective partners and to other third parties for other lawful purposes.
  • We may share your personal information with third parties and individuals that provide services to DF (collectively, “Service Providers”) including, but not limited to, administration/operation support; marketing, promotions, and communications; program, event, meeting, volunteer, research award, member, or conference enrollment, registration, application, planning, hosting, or management; website hosting; database management; data analysis; hosting service; payment processing; or other data processing. DF takes reasonable steps to ensure that our Service Providers are obligated to reasonably protect your information on DF’s behalf. If DF becomes aware that a Service Provider is using or disclosing information improperly, we will take commercially reasonable steps to end or correct such improper use or disclosure.
  • We may disclose personal information if we become subject to a subpoena, court order, or law enforcement or other government agency inquiry or investigation or if we are otherwise legally required to disclose such information. We are not responsible for the actions of third parties with whom you share personal or sensitive data, and we have no authority to manage or control third-party solicitations.
