DF Research Award Program Receives $600,000 Grant from Sanofi and Regeneron

DF SOCS Collaborative Mid-career Research Award sponsored by Sanofi and Regeneron

July 2025

A $600,000 grant from Sanofi and Regeneron to the Dermatology Foundation Research Award Program will support two exceptional mid-career investigators conducting research into type 2 inflammation in skin. This generous donation marks the first time the Foundation has had the opportunity to fund research in this area.

The supported research projects are expected to generate new insights that advance understanding of dermatologic conditions associated with type 2 inflammation. Recipients of the DF Sanofi Regeneron Type 2 Immunity Research Award will each receive $100,000 in annual funding for up to three years, beginning July 1, 2026. Applications open on October 15, 2025, and are due December 1, 2025.

Although atopic dermatitis and related conditions were among the first skin disorders linked to type 2 inflammation, recent research shows that type 2 signatures are present in a broader range of skin disorders, including prurigo nodularis, bullous pemphigoid and inflammaging. The DF Sanofi Regeneron Type 2 Immunity Research Award will enable mid-career investigators to drive discoveries into the pathogenesis of these disorders.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to research, with at least 75% of their time dedicated to research activities.
  • Have received appropriate training and experience in relevant areas of research.
  • Hold a faculty appointment in an accredited dermatology department or division, within 12 years of their initial appointment as an Assistant Professor.
  • Possess an MD, DO, MD/PhD, or PhD degree.

The DF Sanofi Regeneron Type 2 Immunity Research Award is designed to accelerate research into type 2-related skin disorders by providing critical funding to mid-career investigators.

“With this latest addition to our research awards program, we have expanded our ability to support talented researchers at a pivotal point in their careers,” said DF President Janet A. Fairley, MD. “The Sanofi and Regeneron grant strengthens the Foundation’s efforts to attract and retain skilled investigators dedicated to advancing our understanding of skin immunity disorders.”
