For nearly 60 years, the Foundation’s flagship Research Award Program has had a significant role in advancing patient care. Foundation funding of various research projects allows promising investigators to pursue innovative ideas and new knowledge that ultimately leads to treatment breakthroughs.

Board Research Award Program Liaison Dr. George Cotsarelis believes the Program is essential for junior investigators to establish an independent career.

All applications for the DF’s career development awards, fellowships and research grants are under review. Award recipients will be published March 9 on the Dermatology Foundation website.

“The Program offers a broad selection of awards that mainly support research that benefits the dermatology community at large and has significant potential to advance patient care,” said Dr. Cotsarelis.

Many award recipients use research funding to generate preliminary data essential when applying for NIH grants that are necessary for a successful career in cutaneous research. This year, the Foundation has provided $2.8M to 57 researchers across 16 categories, including the Bristol Myers Squibb Psoriasis Research Award. The 2024 research awards will include the new DF Sanofi and Regeneron Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Research Award and open the Diversity Research Supplement Awards to applicants twice a year.
